Medicare recipients, expect to receive a new Medicare Card. Between April, 2018 and April, 2019 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) plan to mail new Medicare cards to more than 60 million Medicare beneficiaries. The new card no longer displays your social security number. Your new Medicare card features a Medicare number that only identifies you, called a Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI). No Medicare benefits changes because of your MBI. For more information, visit www.medicare.gov/newcard.
