The Cancer Care Support Program at the Community Council of Greater Dallas helps individuals recently diagnosed with cancer navigate the challenges that can arise during treatment and recovery. Through supportive services, care navigation, and trusted community partnerships, we help patients focus on their health while maintaining stability and dignity.

About the Cancer Care Support Program
A cancer diagnosis can create sudden financial, emotional, and logistical challenges for individuals and families. Patients may struggle with transportation to medical appointments, access to nutritious meals, housing stability, and maintaining income while undergoing treatment.

The Cancer Care Support Program works to reduce these barriers by connecting patients with supportive services and healthcare resources that help them remain engaged in treatment and focused on recovery.

Assistance in helping patients travel to and from treatments, appointments, and follow-up care.
Home-Delivered Meals
Connections to nutritious meals support that promotes health and recovery during treatment.

Connections to housing, food, financial assistance, and community support resources.
Helping Patients Focus on Healing
Cancer treatment can affect every aspect of daily life. Our program is designed to reduce barriers that may interfere with treatment, recovery, and overall well-being.

By helping patients access transportation, nutrition support, and care navigation services, we help ensure individuals do not have to choose between maintaining basic needs and receiving life-saving medical care.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for Cancer Care Support services, individuals must meet the following criteria:

Resident of Dallas County

U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident

Household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level

Newly diagnosed cancer patient in need of support navigating treatment and related challenges
How to Receive Support
Referral from a Partner Organization
Patients may be referred through hospitals, oncology clinics, community health providers, or partner organizations.

Intake & Eligibility Review
Once referred, a Community Council staff member will contact the patient to complete an intake assessment and determine eligibility for services.

Connection to Support Services
Eligible participants will be connected to available resources and supportive services that can assist during treatment and recovery.

Supporting Stability Through Recovery
The goal of the Cancer Care Support Program is to ensure individuals facing cancer in Dallas County can remain engaged in treatment without sacrificing essential needs like transportation, nutrition, or housing stability.
